Trip to Belize City
We took an island hopper plane over to Belize City with Bernie and Doris to pick out tiles and appliances at Benny's, a large building supply store in town. Aside from the plane ride, which I'm never fond of, we had a good time and found everything we'll need for the condo. Barry found the Maya Island Air strip in San Pedro to be rather quaint, so took several shots of it. The air strip at the Belize City Muncipal airport was surprisingly short and right by the water, an interesting experience for us! I was very relieved when we touched down again safely in San Pedro after our day's adventure.
Our tile choice.

We liked the tile in our unit at Grand Caribe so much we chose it for our own condo, thus making the process a lot simpler (and, we expect, less expensive). The floors, bathroom walls, and kitchen back splash will use this tile. For the condo, I am going with a "sand and sea" theme with sandy tans, creams, and blue-greens like the sea for the decor. You see a lot of formal decor in the islands with a lot of heavy wood, which is certainly attractive, but we are choosing to go more beachy/casual, as that's the type of people we are.
Other tasks.
We paid a visit to the Hummingbird showroom in south San Pedro to look at furniture. We met a nice man there called "Chop", who helped us as we looked around. We saw some very nice pieces and will be making our selections a little later, armed with plenty of good ideas after our visit.
We also went to Belize Bank and started paperwork to open a checking account. We still have some reference letters to gather to complete that process, as their requirements are stringent for foreigners.
