After a full day, I'm too tired to write much but wanted to share these photos from the day.

Hi Emily,

I read several blogs on Ambergris to see what is happening in paradise. A couple of sites talked about heavy mosquitos the last few days.

Are you and Barry encountering mosquitoes on your walks to and from San Pedro?

Hi Emily,

It looks like you are having a great time in your Chico Caribe condo.

I looked on the Grand Caribe website for information regarding Chico Caribe but did not see a single reference.

Before I contact the Grand Caribe sales department, I would like to ask you a few questions.

1) How did you and Barry learn about Chico Caribe?

2) What made you decide on this development over the competition on the island?

3) If this is not too personal,) how much are the Chico Caribe condos selling for, how much are the monthly dues, and what amenities are included?

Thank you in advance.

Russ

Russ,

The first couple of days we were here, the breeze was DEAD in the morning, so there were quite a few mosquitoes on our morning walks into town. However, for the past four days or so, there has been a kickin' breeze in the morning and no mosquitoes to be found! We have not had to wear bug repellent for days. :)

As to your questions about Chico Caribe, the reason you haven't seen anything posted about it are that it is a small building (5 units) and all sold by word of mouth. It was never advertised. We lucked out by meeting someone involved in its development last year at just the right time to get in on the ground floor. The last unit sold this past winter. Chico Caribe is associated with Grand Caribe and has the same HOA fees/amenities.

I hope this helps!

Hi Emily -- so interesting to hear about your new life. I'm wondering what your back up plan is in case of a hurricane (can't help but ask as we are in the height of hurricane season here in FL). I'm so envious! :)

Hi Laura, Fortunately the barrier reef here does help the coastline a lot as there is almost no wave action. And our building is reinforced concrete with hurricane doors facing the sea. From everything we've heard, tropical storms to Cat 1 hurricanes are no real issue, and we would stay put. Anything above that, we would do whatever the more experienced folks here recommend. Move things to higher ground, sandbag, evacuate if needed...we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Hopefully never will!
