Barry spotted this Osprey at the end of our dock and noticed, using binoculars, that it was guarding the nice-sized fish it had just caught. The bird wasn't going to risk losing his lunch, so Barry was able to get quite close and zoom in for some nice shots.

I don't know anything about this type of bird but it looks to be pretty big.

Thanks, Paula - Barry got some great photos! They are indeed big birds, Sabrina! From Wikipedia: "The Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), sometimes known as the sea hawk or fish eagle, is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey. It is a large raptor, reaching more than 60 cm (24 in) in length and 180 cm (71 in) across the wings. It is brown on the upperparts and predominantly greyish on the head and underparts, with a black eye patch and wings."

Thanks, Gigi! Barry's camera has a really good zoom, perfect for wildlife photos. It was very nice of the bird to hang out for so long with his lunch, too!
